SUMMER FOOD PROGRAM
Project MKC provides families with healthy food for their children during the summer months when free and reduced school breakfasts and lunches are not an option.
Every other week 50 Boardman families receive groceries delivered to their home. The groceries include 2 recipes and all of the ingredients to make them. The groceries will also include fresh fruits and vegetables, bread, milk, and snacks. The idea is to provide groceries that can be used for breakfasts and lunches along with the 2 recipes for dinner items. The dinner recipes will hopefully introduce new, healthy options to participating families. Most recipes are prepared in a crockpot to show parents or children that it can be quick and easy to prepare a home cooked meal. Shopping lists will also be provided incase families want to repeat any recipes or organize their grocery shopping experiences in the future.
